Start Small Dream Big Launch Party 2022 - LFP @Y366

Last year, children gave back to the community by raising funds for the less fortunate families. This year, we will shine the light on our dearest pioneer generation and in line with our theme, “Old but Gold”!

Children shared their experiences with the elderly in the community such as interactions with neighbours and even with their own grandparents. Parents sent in videos of children interviewing their grandparents about how their childhood was in the past and they shared the same interests in some aspects such as games, snacks and hobbies.

This year, the children wants to visit the elderly and also gift them things children made themselves. For the playgroup children, they painted on canvas, exploring with the different colours to paint their abstract painting.

The N1 children explored with natural materials such as flowers, petals, leaves and wood to create their frame artwork. Look at the beautiful designs they created!

As we know the elderly would enjoy a cup of hot tea or coffee, our N2 children painted coasters in beautiful bright colours as gifts.

The K1 and K2s had an extended activity whereby they played old childhood games. Some of the games were “wooden” stilts, pick-up sticks, snap, skipping rope and twister. They had so much fun!

For the K1’s DIY gift activity, children melted down plain soap bars and put in colours of their choice and poured them in shape moulds. Children were engaged and followed the steps meticulously to create beautiful soaps.

Lastly, our K2s had a great idea to donate tshirts to remake it into a pillow. Children ensured that the tshirts they donated were clean and can be reused.

They stuffed the shirts with polyester fiberfill and sealed it with the help of their teacher. So comfy!

To wrap up our Start Small Dream Big Launch Day, the teachers led the children in a yoga session. They also shared with children that as the elderly cannot engage themselves in vigorous activities, they would enjoy light yoga, “tai chi” or stretches to exercise. Look at those amazing poses!

Stay tuned for what’s next in our Start Small Dream Big journey here in Little Footprints Preschool @ Y366! 🧡
