It was an exciting day for the children as they had the opportunity to visit the Yishun Public Library located at Northpoint City. The children were greeted with warm smiles and welcome from the staff and librarians.
The visit started off with a tour of the library by Mr Herman. He shared the various locations of a variety of resources such as magazines and books.
He also emphasised the importance of reading directory maps in the library and who to look for such as the librarian if they need help in finding any books.
He introduced various types of books such as bilingual books, pictures books and fiction and non-fiction books. The children were taught how to identify the different numbers and letters on the side of the book when finding different books.
The children had some time to browse and look at the various types of books.
After the tour, the children were engaged in an interactive storytelling session by Madam Nur-El-Hudaa who is an author of children’s books.
She showcased a bilingual approach in telling stories and engaged the children in question and answer sessions where the children responded and received wonderful gifts.
We would like to thank the Yishun Public Library and Marcom for organising this meaningful visit for the teachers and children.
