SSDB Project-Pet Care Heroes

The much-anticipated day has finally arrived! Tinkerland incorporated SSDB project on “Pet Care Heroes” and fund raising project for VFA (Voices For Animals) into our SG60 National Day cum Sports Day celebration on 8 August. It was a perfect blend of national pride, fun and unforgettable memories.

Our parents were invited to participate in our celebration. There was an overwhelming response from them.

The day started with an NDP workout followed by Sports event. Our parents took part in our races with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship.

We invited Mr Yeo, a veterinarian and also a parent of our Playgroup child to give a talk on pet care, how to handle pets and how to be responsible pet owners. Our parents and children lapped in every detail and tip given. We also presented Mr Yeo with a card of appreciation drawn by our Kindergarten kids for his talk and selfless contribution to support our school programme amidst his busy schedule.

Through Mr Yeo’s sharing session, we also created awareness in our parents our bid to raise funds for VFA - a Singapore-based, volunteer-run animal welfare organization dedicated to saving lives and giving a second chance to animals in need.

Our Kindergarten kids made cookies in the shape of different pets the day before to be sold on this day to raise funds.

The school bought DIY merchandises like photo frames, pencil cases and tote bags whereby individual class children enthusiastically decorated for sale to raise funds. There were also other DIY merchandises on sale where parents can purchase and decorate on the spot with their kids. The support from our parents were very encouraging - they generously snapped up all the items on sale to help us raise funds.

Apart from the fund-raising activities, there were also our indoor activities like quiz, jigsaw puzzles etc to engage our parents and their children - thereby creating a great family bonding time.

Lunch was provided and there was great bonding time amongst parents and children.

The school was bustling with excitement from all these ongoing and exciting activities.

There was also performances of our National Day songs by our children of all levels - which was met with much applause of encouragement and pride from our parents.

The K1 and K2 children also entertained our parents with the SSDB song, “Step by step”.. The SSDB Iis an annual project which teaches our preschoolers about selfless contribution and commitment towards our community.

The day ended with presentation of Certificates of appreciation to our parents for their generous contribution and participation by our principal and vice principal.

We are very thankful to our parents who unanimously supported us in our celebration - for without them, this celebration would not be successful and so fun-filled. Kudos to all our parents!
