[SSDB 2025] Trash to Treasure: Caring for Creatures with Creativity (Phase 2 - Beach Clean-up)

Phase 2 of the project brought children beyond the classroom and into the real world to take meaningful action.

The activity began with a reminder of how littering harms wildlife—especially marine animals who may mistake trash for food or become trapped in it. With gloves on and bags in hand, children and their families took part in a beach clean-up, collecting litter and sorting it into recyclables and non-recyclables.

This hands-on experience allowed children to apply their learning immediately, reinforcing the importance of proper waste disposal. Along the way, they noticed common waste items—plastic packaging, food wrappers, and bottle caps—and reflected on how these items could affect animals if left in the environment.

Through this experience, the children began to see themselves as active protectors of the planet. It was a powerful moment where knowledge turned into action, and small hands made a real impact in caring for our Earth and its creatures. 🌊🌱🐢
