Recognizing Chinese Characters with our sense of touch

To understand more about using their sense of touch to recognize items, our Laoshi worked with the children in recognizing the different strokes of the Chinese characters. The children wore their blindfolds while feeling the sandpaper tiles of Chinese character strokes. The children had been learning and writing these strokes from the start of the year.

It was quite challenging for them to recognize just by feeling it at first, they took some time for them to recognize the characters. After some trial and error, they tried to feel it slowly and they could figure out some of the strokes.

They said that it was difficult for them to use their sense of touch and felt that looking and seeing at the characters were easier for them to recognize.
