Our Closing Mission and Advocating for Environmental Sustainability

Upcycling Plastic Items

As part of our last in-class SSDB learning experience, we created functional objects from recyclable plastic items our Eco Ninjas have collected from home – transforming things we no longer use into meaningful everyday items.

Through inventiveness and creativity, plastic bags, packaging and bottle caps were turned into games and toys such as whack-a-mole, cars and even a mini basketball hoop.

Together with our teachers, our Eco Ninjas created musical instruments such as drums, guitars and castanets.

Even tables and stationery holders were artfully crafted using the recyclables collected.

Our Closing Mission and SSDB Exhibit

To culminate our project, we had a mass closing mission where all our Eco Ninjas gathered to celebrate their collective effort in saying NO to Plastic! With it, it was revealed that the children are now Eco Champions whose role is to spread the importance of managing plastic waste through reusing, reducing and recycling.

We organised an SSDB exhibit where our newly minted Eco Champions had the opportunity to explore and engage with the items that the other classes have made, showing them the multitude of ways in which plastic items can be repurposed meaningfully.

Advocating sustainable habits to the community

Earth Day Sharing with our EYC Partner

We invited our EYC partner to our school for Earth Day. As ‘Little Teachers’ for the day, our K1 children imparted the key message of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle to our N2 guests with passion and enthusiasm through activities and experiences thoughtfully designed by our teachers.

SSDB Project Sharing with Primary School Students

Our project did not just end there, we shared what we have learnt to the students in Bendemeer Primary School through station activities – advocating the importance of reducing plastic waste to the immediate community.

Our confident and brave K2 Children shared what they have learnt through the project and engaged with the students on how to use and play with the items they have made.

Through the various activities and events planned for our SSDB project this year, our children have had the opportunity to learn the impact they can have on the environment, develop sustainable habits and become advocates for a greener world through their actions no matter how big or small.
