Ocean Odyssey:Exploring the Deep

Mulberrians from Mulberry Learning Centre @Kovan had a wonderful and enriching experiential Learning experiences at the S.E.A Aquarium.

The Mulberrians embarked on the project theme titled ‘Under the Sea’ for the first half of the year. They explored the foundational knowledge about marine life including the different types of marine creatures, their habitats and unique adaptations. Lessons were emphasized on the importance of ocean ecosystems and introduced key concepts of marine conservation such as pollution, overfishing, and the role of humans in protecting marine environments. The children were engaged in storytelling, creative arts and group discussions to reinforce understanding and encourage curiosity.

Our visit to the S.E.A Aquarium offered the children with opportunities to observe a wide range of marine animals in habitats that mimic natural environments, such as coral reefs, deep sea zones and etc. They were able to identify the different kinds of marine creatures they had learned about, noting their physical features, behaviours and environments. Through guided tour and interactive exhibits, they deepened their understanding of biodiversity and the interconnectedness of ocean life. It also reinforced conservation messages,  showing real-life examples of how marine life is affected by human activity and how we can contribute to ocean health.

In summary, this combined classroom and outdoor learning experiences enhanced children’s knowledge,  their sense of responsibility towards marine conservation and a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
