During the June holiday break, our classrooms came alive with engaging activities centered around the theme of Animal Conservation. Through meaningful play and creative expression, children across age groups explored how they can care for and protect animals and their habitats.
For our younger children, the focus was on discovery and empathy. They were introduced to a variety of wild animals and the environments they live in, sparking wonder about life beyond their everyday surroundings. Children sang and danced to catchy conservation-themed songs, reinforcing messages of kindness to animals in a fun and memorable way. A hands-on highlight was the “animal rescue” activity, where children carefully unthreaded yarn to save animal figurines. This builds their motor skills while understanding the dangers of entanglement in the wild.
Our older children were given opportunities to extend their learning through problem-solving and creativity. They designed and wore animal masks inspired by their favourite wildlife creatures, built animal habitats using LEGO bricks, and freed animal figurines frozen in ice, learning how animals may be affected by harsh environments. The children also created posters advocating for animal protection, expressing their awareness and compassion through art.
These purposeful experiences allowed every child to connect with the message that even small hands and hearts can make a big difference. Our budding conservationists are now more aware of the challenges animals face and how they can be part of the solution.
