Little Hands, Big Hearts (E-Bridge @ Sumang Lane)

In the months of June to August, our children embarked on a meaningful journey of empathy and giving through our Start Small Dream Big project, titled “Little Hands, Big Heart.” This initiative aimed to foster compassion and social responsibility by connecting our young learners with the elderly community at St. Luke’s Eldercare.

To kickstart the project in June, the children engaged in thoughtful classroom discussions about who the elderly are, why they may be more vulnerable, and how we can care for them. They explored themes of kindness, gratitude, and empathy, and identified practical ways to show appreciation and support to the seniors in our community.

Inspired by these conversations, the children came together to co-create a collaborative banner as a form of visual expression. This banner, filled with their heartfelt messages and drawings, served as a meaningful centrepiece during our next phase - the food donation drive.

As part of our National Day celebrations on 8 August 2025, we set up a special donation booth decorated in festive red and white by the children. Children helped decide which essential food items would be useful for the elderly, based on a list from St. Luke’s Eldercare. Families generously contributed, and the children proudly displayed their banner and hand-written cards with their messages.

In the final phase of the project, our N2 to K2 children had the opportunity to visit the elders at St. Luke’s Eldercare. During the visit, children engaged in various heartwarming activities—some performed songs, others played simple games or created art alongside the elderly residents. Most meaningfully, the children personally handed over the food donations, symbolising their care and effort.

Through this project, our children not only deepened their understanding of the elderly but also experienced the joy of service and the impact of even the smallest hands in making a big difference. It was a touching reminder that kindness truly begins from the heart.

Together, we nurture a generation of givers. ❤️
