LET’S DO OUR PARTS WITH OUR LITTLE HANDS (a look back)

In this year’s SSDB project, we planned to focus on what the children can do with their hands to show kindness and concern for themselves, for the people around them and for the environment. The activities mapped out were for them to not only gain knowledge but also to become skilled at, via first and hands-on experiences, and be able to share confidently what they’ve learned, to their families and friends.

SSDB #1: Water Conservation (Pls see 5 June post for more)

With the help of our Community Partner, Zhenghua Secondary School, the children did fun activities while learning ways to save water. We also took the opportunity to implement “Save Water Campaign Week” prior to the World Water Day Celebration wherein they gained additional knowledge on the water sources and the reservoirs in Singapore. The children also went to visit NEWater to sum up this part of our SSDB project.

SSDB #2: Preparing Healthy Snacks (Pls see 4 September post for more)

The N2, K1 and K2 classes prepared healthy snacks while sharing and taking turns with their friends.

SSDB #3: Let’s Get Physical**!** (Pls see 4 September post for more) The children from different classes bonded in a physical activity during our National Day Celebration.

With all the activities conducted, we are confident that the children had a lot of fun and really learned. As what Benjamin Franklin had said, “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” We can say that their SSDB journey this year had been a one of a kind experience for them, and we hope that they’ll be able to impart some information to their families and friends, too!
