On June 20th, we gathered at 8.30am to depart for Bukit Timah Hill for our hiking trip. Children were excited as for some of them, this will be their 1st time hiking.
The hiking children were divided into 3 different groups Kindergarten 1 kids, Kindergarten 2, and primary school kids. They were excited to embark on this hiking trip together - with friends and teachers.
There, we had a fun and fruitful day where we saw many flora and fauna, and we even saw some animals that made Bukit Timah Hill their home. An excellent learning journey for many of them. We even saw a poisonous snake which some hikers informed us to let be as it slithered away.
Each group then went on a separate way to view the area better. We all met at the summit.
Along the way, we rested when tired and continued with our journey once we had our sip of water and some snacks. As the climb was exhausting, we stopped many times and rest under the canopy before continuing.
It took us about 2 hours to reach the summit - the teachers and children were tired to the max but the view and the learning was great. We rested about 1/2hour once we reached the summit before making our way down the hill to get back to the centre.
What an achievement for everyone. Even our invited 4 years (5 of them) enjoyed themselves tremendously during our hiking.
For me, it was a glorious, tiring, aching day as this is my 1st time ever to climb the Bukit Timah Hill. What an achievement for me too especially for someone who does not exercise regularly.
Thank you to all my campers who kept encouraging me to complete the climb whenever I wanted to stop and not move on. 🥰 with their encouragement, I finally reached the summit albeit a bit later than the kids themselves. Excellent job kids for showing empathy and understanding.
Thank you 🙏🙏❤️
