Green Guardians: Little Explorers of the Earth

Our school partnered with Gardens by the Bay for this year’s SSDB initiative. The K1 and K2 children became ‘Green Guardians’ and embarked on the ‘Green Quest’—a learning journey designed to deepen their understanding of biodiversity, conservation, and sustainability through a series of engaging and meaningful activities.

The main task involved completing an activity grid provided by Gardens by the Bay. Each box on the grid featured conservation and sustainability-themed activities, such as saving water, appreciating nature, and caring for the environment. Many of these activities were completed in school with the guidance of their teachers and the support of their peers. The remaining tasks were accomplished at home together with their families. Some children planted and nurtured mung beans, while others demonstrated water-saving habits, such as conserving water while brushing their teeth.

These hands-on experiences provided the children with authentic opportunities to explore environmental responsibility in both school and home settings. They not only learned the importance of caring for the planet but also developed a sense of pride in contributing to real-world efforts to protect nature.

We are grateful to be part of Gardens by the Bay’s Green Quest and proud to see the children taking meaningful steps towards becoming caring and responsible stewards of the Earth. We hope these experiences will continue to nurture their love for nature and encourage lifelong sustainable habits.
