Our school organised an excursion to the Singapore Oceanarium as part of our SSDB project. This experience aimed to encourage the children to care for marine animals. This meaningful trip brought together children and teachers, and gave everyone a chance to appreciate the importance of protecting our oceans.
Discovering Marine Life
The children were full of excitement as they explored the Oceanarium exhibits. From colourful coral reefs to graceful rays and schools of fish, they were amazed by the variety of marine animals. Seeing the displays up close helped them connect what they had learned in class to the real world, sparking curiosity and wonder about life under the sea.
Building Awareness and Responsibility
The excursion also encouraged the children to reflect on how they can care for the environment. They realised that human actions can impact marine life, for example, a shipwreck. They also understood the importance of reducing waste to lower to pollution rate. It was a valuable chance to nurture empathy, respect and responsibility as the children understood that every small action counts.
