2025 Food Donation Drive

Our school proudly organised a Food Donation Drive in support of FoodBankSG, bringing together children, parents, and teachers for a meaningful cause. The children were at the heart of this initiative — they brainstormed creative ideas and designed colourful posters to raise awareness, which were proudly displayed outside the school. These posters helped spread the message to our community and encouraged participation.

A Food Donation Drive station was set up outside our school, where large food collection containers were placed. The response from parents was overwhelming — they were excited to contribute and showed great generosity. Our teachers also stepped forward to support the cause by donating food items themselves, demonstrating to the children that acts of kindness begin with us.

Packing the Donations

When the collection period ended, it was time to prepare the donations for delivery. The children worked in small groups to check expiry dates and sort the items into appropriate categories. This step helped them understand the importance of food safety and proper organisation. They then carefully packed the sorted items into sturdy cardboard boxes, stacking them neatly so they would be ready for transport.

Delivering the Donations

To further strengthen our school–parent partnership, we invited parent volunteers to join us in delivering the donations to FoodBankSG. Their willingness to contribute their time and energy made the delivery process smoother and gave the children an opportunity to see their parents actively involved in community service.

At FoodBankSG, the staff graciously welcomed us and gave a short tour of their facilities. They explained how donations are received, sorted, grouped, and eventually distributed to different communities across Singapore. This behind-the-scenes look gave the children valuable insight into the logistics and hard work involved in ensuring that food reaches those who need it most.

Through this experience, our children learned that community service is not just about giving, but about working together for a common good. They discovered that small individual contributions can create a significant collective impact. Most importantly, they learned that kindness, empathy, and teamwork are values that can be practised at any age.
