Start Small Dream Big: My First Skool @ Whampoa South Blk 49 - An Artful Cause ♡

My Kindergarten 1 class children had been motivated to reach out to elderly who weren’t cared for by their families ever since they walked past an elderly home during a field trip. They collectively decided to put their origami folding talents to use, in order to exchange for household items for the elderly!

With much practice, they skillfully formed cute origami animals such as cats, dogs and rabbits. They even folded paper fans to keep the heat away! They were so eager to “sell” their artwork to their parents!

In exchange for their children’s and their children’s classmates’ origami artwork, their parents brought household items such as toothbrushes, cups, blankets, shampoo and many more!

The elderly were delighted to be pampered with thoughtful and practical gifts, and overwhelmed to receive love and warmth from the children. What a wonderful journey!

Through this journey, the children and I have learned that just a little can go a long way in helping those in need. “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” - and that’s exactly what we achieved through this project! :)
