SSDB: Upcycling Paper Materials

Upcycling is a process of using materials of no value to create materials of value. The importance of upcycling things aims to help us in achieving two of the ’3R’s of recycling: REDUCE and REUSE. It helps you reduce what is going to the landfill and reuses the product you were going to throw it away, giving it a second life, without the need of “degrading” it.

At E-Bridge PreSchool @ Bukit Batok West, in the month of May 2023, we have invited parents to contribute paper-based materials (e.g., cardboard boxes, assorted papers, newspapers, magazines, books, kitchen towel tubes) for the children to explore and create items which they would like to display during our Family Day exhibition. 😊

In conjunction with our inquiry for Term 2’s ‘Environmental Protection’, we have also sent out ‘Take-Home Activity’ which the families were encouraged to come up with creative ideas in making the papers useful again! 😎

Lastly in school, children were invited to brainstorm ideas, design/draw them on paper before finally constructing their imaginations to make it “come alive” ! 😃
