When Gong Gong and Po Po Come To Visit

“客人来”/“Ke Ren Lai” that is the popular children song most pre-schoolers know and like. It describes how some guests came to look for daddy and when he was not in, the child played host and served hospitably! In our case, this afternoon our guests our VIPs, were gong gongs and po pos who are our K1s and K2s grandparents and some elderly in the neigbourhood. Today’s programme should have won our “guests”. Thumbs-up as they were served more than tea with hospitality; they were first led on a tour to the 3 bays in our centre! It was first hand ecperience for many of them to step into our centre. And their eyes opened and mouth gaped to see cute faces and miniature furniture!

After tea of fried brown rice bee hoon, gong gongs and po pos and their grandchildren and peers came together to make a photo frame for the happy memories they have had captured on papers. They carrried the happy memories as they walked out through the K2 class door!

The SSDB project may have come to a formal closure for the centre. But for both teachers and children , we have just begun to step into the world of our silvered-haired generation… We have drawn physically closer to them; at least for the contact the 2 events allowed and we have found them “lovier” than how the society may have stereotyped them to be… … deeper understanding in the awaiting… …
