We Stand By You: Our Healthcare Heroes

The children of Cherie Hearts @ Limbang embarked on the SSDB project on 16 March 2020, in light of the current pandemic that they were facing. Thus, we began our project ‘We Stand By You: Our Healthcare Heroes’ - where we focused on honouring and appreciating the dedication and hard work of our healthcare professionals.

They realised that they play an important role in safeguarding their own health - such as stepping up on the hygiene practices in school, washing their hands thoroughly with water and soap, as well as maintaining a safe distance between one another.

Although it was difficult for the children to keep far apart from their friends, they understood that it is critical for everyone to work hand in hand to ensure that the COVID-19 virus will not spread easily.

Not only that, they became aware of the huge responsibility of our healthcare workers and how they contribute to our community during these tough times. As the children had been experiencing various changes to their daily routines and day-to-day activities, they sympathised with our front liners. Thus, the children crafted a wide variety of art works to be placed together in an appreciation box for the healthcare workers at the Healthway Medical Clinic.

As part of understanding the dedication and hard work of the healthcare workers, the children from the Kindergarten 2 class also engaged in some role-playing activities where they took turns to take on the roles of a doctor, nurse and patient.

Not only that, they worked together to create a banner for the classroom as well. Through a discussion, they came up with some phrases and pictures to be placed on the banner. After which, they took turns painting and decorating the banner.
