The Green Ranger: The Power To Reduce by PCF Sparkletots@Woodgrove 364

PCF Sparkletots Preschool @ Woodgrove BLK 364 has launched its new SSDB project! Taking on The Power To Reduce, we introduce our new mascot, The Green Ranger to inspire the community to repurpose recyclables in meaningful and creative ways.

On May 8, 2020, we launched our project ONLINE! With the help of our lovely parents and the littlelives application, we introduced our collaborative plan with NEA’s Captain Green and kicked start our project with A Short Story of Reducing Waste: Mother Earth is Angry!, to promote the importance of protecting our environment and earth.

To be equipped with a better understanding of reducing waste and reusing recyclables, parents and their children watched videos featuring NEA’s Captain Green and took on simple quizzes. Children of each level then took on roles in efforts to raise the awareness of reduction.

Nurseries 1 & 2: Our Cardboard Town & Toys in Our Home

Kindergarten 1: People in Our Community

Kindergarten 2: Iconic Places in Singapore

Our Power to Reduce got stronger as Teachers of different levels worked together to reemphasize to their children on the importance of keeping the environment and our earth clean and green. Children were given MORE exciting experiences to appreciate and help maintain our environment.

Our non teaching staffs helped to cut up old uniforms to allow our K2s to create and make their tie-dyes. Whereas, K1s coloured and decorated the community houses using recycled newspapers cut-outs. Similarly, N2s took part in colouring and decorated the people in our community, with leftover construction papers from art and crafts. While N1s did finger painting on recycled plastic bottles.

In conclusion of our SSDB 2020 project, an exhibition will be held, with every corner beautifully adorned with our incredibly talented children’s crafts and recycled items donated by our supportive parents.

We would like to give a big THANK YOU to our parents, children, and staff members who took on this remarkable journey to collaborate and cultivate a stronger and better community!
