SSDB : 'Care & Share' for the Elderly

We marked a special day in our school calender on 30 April 2019 as we launched our very first SSDB project that involved the children and the parents.

Peachaven Nursing Home was introduced to our children as part of their learning experience and was selected as our beneficiary for the project.

Our children were very excited to be part of this meaningful project. They came up with the slogan ‘Care & Share’ and mooted the idea of having a mini funfair with interesting games stalls and a garage sale to support the nursing home.

We were grateful for the partnership with the parents who donated their pre-loved items generously for the garage sale. And of course a big thank you for our parents volunteers who had helped in sorting and packing of the items.

On the day of our Exhibition Day cum Open House. We had garage sale, game stalls, craft stall, food and drink stall manned by volunteers. Not forgetting our K2 children promoting their handmade seashell magnets to the parents.

We were thankful to God that this event was a success one. Through the sale of the mini fair coupons, we managed to collect and contributed money to Peachaven Nursing Home to help the less fortunate elderly.

Through this SSDB project, children learnt to show empathy, care and respect for the elderly in our community.

We believe that the children’s involvement in this project will enforce our continuous effort to provide them a holistic education and maximise their potential.

Children brought home the SSDB materials to celebrate the closure of our SSDB project. They were encouraged to reuse the paper bag (Sharity Bag) to bless the others. For example, decorate the paper bag with stickers, put some items in the bag and write special words to thank someone. They were very excited about it.
