Phase 2: Strengthening Food Resilience by Setting up our School’s Indoor Garden

It has been six weeks since we started our Indoor Garden Project. Children were busy in plowing, planting, watering and bringing out the plants for sunlight in school. Well, it started well and we are doing our best to upkeep our garden and track our plants’ growth.

In line with our partnership with NParks, we decided to grow some edibles in our garden to impart the concept of Food Resilience to our children.  Nursery 1 and Nursery 2 came up with an edible garden. Kindergarten 1 has a mixture of edible and succulent garden. Kindergarten 2 has a mixture of edible and ornamental garden. The children enjoyed the different modes of planting in growing different kinds of plants.

Well, the six weeks of planting was fun, interesting, exciting and enriching. However, we also faced some challenges such as long weekend school closures and week-long school holiday. Which means our plants won’t get water and sunlight for a couple of days. We are currently at the stage of reviving and replanting our plants that was somehow affected by the week-long school holiday last July 18-26.

Take a look at our planting journey!
