PCF Sparkletots Preschool @Braddell Heights 417: IGP 2018 - Raising Rhino: Looking Through the Eyes of Oban

On 8 September 2018, PCF Sparkletots Preschool @ Braddell Heights 417 celebrated the first birthday of one of the youngest rhinos in the Singapore Zoo, Oban.

For the past six months, the K1 and K2 children learned all about the Southern White Rhino and found out that the Singapore Zoo’s youngest rhino would turn 1 year old on the 6th of September. The children, teachers and principal decided to throw Oban’s first birthday party on 8th September. This was also a wonderful avenue to showcase everything that they learned about the rhinoceros.

The children created posters, pledge cards, slogans, Fix the Horn and Pin the tail of the rhino, trees, 2D and 3D artworks, puzzle pieces including animals that can be found in the Savannas, Oban’s story, and a 3D birthday cake. The children also created toys for Oban to use for exercise. Parents also participated as they created 3D rhinoceros with their child using recycled materials.

The outdoor gallery was filled with Oban’s photos from birth till now. These beautiful photos were provided by our community partner, Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS) - photos credit Mr David Tan, WRS.

The Welcome Team was made up of both K1 and K2 children who did a welcome chant and clap to welcome our guests into the Savannas.
