GSCKG NKF B.L.E.S.S Project- Day 6 (10 April 2018)

It was a beautiful day when we went to Tampines Dialysis Centre to do our community work. When we reached our destination, the social workers showed the children and parents to the pantry where we had to prepare our fruit platter.

The social worker, Miss Ruth Tan and Miss Priscilla Tan briefed the children on the hygiene of preparing the fruit platter. First the children had to sanitize their hands before the entry to the pantry. Second, they had to wash their hands thoroughly using the 8 steps of washing hands by Ministry of Health. Third, parent volunteers helped the children to wear their plastic gloves and washed the fruits of strawberries, blueberries, grapes of different colours of green, purple and black. They also opened the canned longans and drained the syrup out. Fourth, the parent volunteers laid all the fruits in few trays.

The children were eager to pull the stems out from the fruits and they enjoyed picking and choosing the fruits to be put into tulip paper cups. After much anticipation, it was time for the children to give the fruit cups to all the patients and perform their heat song “Chan Mali Chan” to the surprise patients especially the Malay community.

The children, teachers, parent volunteers and kidney patients really enjoyed themselves at the Tampines Dialysis Centre. The children are always looking forward to visiting them again.
