E-Bridge 217 Edible Vertical Garden

The E-Bridge 217 K1 and K2 children, staff, and our parents have been taking turns in caring for our plants in the vertical garden. Each class is assigned to a specific day in a week to tend to the garden by watering them and loosening the soil in the pots using the gardening tools.

After a month, some of the plants in our garden are ready for harvesting! With guidance from the educators on how to harvest the plants, the children carefully cut them and shared it with our centre cook to be used for cooking.

To make this gardening experience more meaningful, the K1 & K2 children also jotted down their observations weekly (in both writing and drawing) in their “Growth Diary” to keep track of their plants’ growth. After recording their observations, the children are then invited to a meaningful class discussion and are encouraged to share in class the changes they have seen in their plants.
