Sunflower Preschool @ AMK Pte Ltd has launched our SSDB 2023 project on 17 April 2023!
We are excited and honoured to continue to be part of the SSDB community.
Embracing the 2023 SSDB theme, “Many Helping Hands, Caring for Everyone”, our school focuses on “Show Respect” to everyone.
This is in line with the Families for Life (FFL) programme, we hope to support parents to journey with their children to understand the importance of family through family values.
We explained to children why showing respect is important and how to demonstrate the act of showing respect to others.
Children brainstormed and used their reflectiveness skills and share their experiences on how they show respect in daily life.
During the launch, we sing and dance the song, “ I respect my family”.
We learn to “sign” for the word “respect” by crossing our index and middle finger, placed on the side of our forehead and slide down gently. This “sign” symbolizes showing respect.
Following the launch, our N2 - K2 children had a story telling session from the book titled: Treasure for Life - Becky and the Treasure Chest.
This book highlights how Becky Bunny struggled through the journey and learnt to be respectful to everyone.
Our N2 - K2 children were engaged throughout the story and participated actively in the discussion.
Children demonstrated their reflectiveness skills and expressed how to solve tough situations faced by Becky.
They learnt to cultivate a Give-and-Take, acceptance and forgiveness attitude through role playing the characters in the story.
